Who answers the telephone?
Feline Friends has two mobile phones that are manned by volunteers, so please be patient if we don’t answer your call right away.

General & Emergency - 050 582-2916
Homing and Fostering - 050 823 1569

Why didn’t Feline Friends get back to me immediately?
Feline Friends answers calls in order of priority, so priority will always be given to a call regarding a sick or injured cat.

We will return your call as soon as possible.

Where can we see cats available for adoption?
Feline Friends relies entirely on the generosity of our foster homes – we do not have a shelter facility.

We arrange meetings with the cat of your choice by appointment;  please call our Homing and Fostering volunteer on 050 823 1569.

We also have adoption days occasionally where you can meet several cats at once and decide which one is perfect for you.

See our Facebook page for our next Adoption Day.

Can I foster a cat?
Yes! The more foster homes we have the more cats we can help.

We will take care of the cat’s medical expenses and provide you with the basic cat care equipment.

Fostering is incredibly rewarding to you and your family and you are making a huge difference in the life of the animal you foster.

Can I leave my cat with Feline Friends when I go on vacation?
Feline Friends does not own a cattery and our foster homes are almost always full.

Your local vet should be able to tell you where the best Kennels and Catteries are.

Alternatively, you could try using a pet-sitter who will take care of your cats’ daily needs in your own home.

I own a cat. Can I give it to Feline Friends when I leave?
Preparing your cat to travel with you can take several months and cost a lot of money, we advise you to look into this before you make a decision to get a pet.

If you really can't take the cat with you when you leave, tell Feline Friends as soon as you know you are leaving and they will help you to find your cat a home.

Please do not expect Feline Friends to take your cat on short notice because they may not have a foster home available. Arranging a temporary foster home with a friend helps us to help you find your cat a “forever” home.

Can Feline Friends help with the export of our cat?
Your local vet will have all the information you need and will be able to help you with the export of your cat.

Our cat will be ok if we put them on the street, right?
No.

Domestic pets have lost the skills they need to survive on the streets. Feral animals such as cats and dogs will attack your pet to defend their territory.

NEVER release your cat onto the street.

Contact us and we will talk you through the options available to you.

We want a black, fluffy, friendly male 4-year-old cat. Can Feline Friends help?
If we do not have exactly the cat you are looking for, we may suggest you consider another cat. It may not have the look you originally wanted, but may turn out to be your perfect companion.

Remember the personality is SO much more important in the long run.

Why do we have to pay FF for a cat?
Our cats are health checked, sterilised and vaccinated. In order to cover these medical costs, we will ask you for a donation, which is considerably less than these medical expenses if you were paying the vet fees yourself.

By making a donation that covers Feline Friends expenses for your cat, you have ensured that they have enough money to help another.

It is 10pm and we have found an injured cat. Can Feline Friends come immediately?
Yes if it is possible.

If the cat is seriously injured Feline Friends would try to get a volunteer to you. If it is not seriously injured, Feline Friends would ask that you look after the cat until morning.

It is midnight. We have found a stray cat. Can Feline Friends come NOW?
Please do not ring a volunteer at this time of night unless it is absolutely necessary. The volunteers are not on call 24 hours a day 7 days a week.

If you can, please look after the cat until morning and call the voice mail with your details. Feline Friends will then try to help in the morning.

How to adopt a cat from Feline Friends

  • Have a look at our current available cats and kittens on our facebook page: http://www.facebook.com/pages/Feline-Friends-Abu-Dhabi/115144220947
Click on each picture to read some more information about the cat pictured
  • The next step is to call our Homing and Fostering Volunteer on 050 823 1569 He or she will then ask you a few questions to help match you to your perfect Kitty.
  • Leave us a message if we are not immediately available – we will always call you back as soon as we can!

  • We will ask you to fill out our application form which you can download here:
    Cat adoption application form.
  • Once you have a short list of cats/kittens you would like to meet, our Homing Volunteer will arrange an appointment for you to see them.

  • As all our cats will have been health checked, sterilised and fully vaccinated, we will ask you for a donation to cover our medical costs. The current donations are 500 for an adult non pedigree cat, 750 for a kitten under seven months old, a pedigree or part pedigree of any age.

  • Your new pet may take some time to get used to his new home. If you feel that he or she is not settling in, call your coordinator for advice. Please do not return the cat to the foster home without calling us as he or she may have taken in a new foster cat.

  • NEVER release the cat onto the street. FF cats are indoor domestic pets and will not be able to survive on the street.

Good luck – we hope we can match you up with your Purr-fect friend very soon!
