How Fostering Works:
Generally, FF is looking for short-term and urgent (2-3 weeks) foster placements for cats/kittens who are surrendered without up to date vaccinations, have contagious illnesses i.e. cat flu, Currently we only have around 25 foster homes. Even less during the summer months and holidays. We are only able to foster as many cats as we have foster homes.
If you foster a cat for Feline Friends you are responsible for providing it a safe and loving environment and water. You are also responsible to take it to the vets for its scheduled procedures ie vaccinations and sterilization.
FF takes care of its veterinary expenses and will find temporary accommodation for it while you are away on vacation, if staying in your home is not an option.
From time to time you will receive calls from prospective adoptive parents who wish to come and see the cat and you can arrange a time that is convenient to you.
If you feel the person/family is not suitable to adopt your foster cat you are within your rights not to let them take the cat from you since you will have had an opportunity to see how they react with the cat. (Please inform the Homing and Fostering Coordinator your reasons for not letting them adopt.).
If you prefer not to have someone come to your home (you may be a single person who does not feel comfortable with strangers coming to your home), we can arrange for the cat to be viewed at the American or German Veterinary Clinic but, obviously, the cat may not be as relaxed in this environment and may not be adopted.
Kittens may stay in foster homes up to 3 months as FF only adopts out cats that have been sterilized. The kitten must be approximately 3.5 months for this procedure.
