What to Do If...
...I find an injured cat at 10pm, can I call Feline Friends? Yes you can call Feline Friends. If the cat is seriously injured Feline Friends would try to get a volunteer to you. If it is not seriously injured, Feline Friends would ask that you look after the cat until morning.
... I find an injured cat at midnight, can I call Feline Friends? Please do not ring a volunteer at this time of night unless it is absolutely necessary. The volunteers are not on call 24 hours a day 7 days a week. If you can, please look after the cat until morning and call the voice mail with your details. Feline Friends would then try to help in the morning.
...I am feeding street cats? Only feed once a day or every other day. Street cats must not forget how to scavenge for food at the bins. Do not leave food lying around, this might upset your neighbours and just attracts more cats. Be responsible and get them sterilised through the Trap-Neuter-Release Programme. FF has special rates for sterilising street cats and will lend you a trapping cage. Call 050-5822916 for more info.
...I am leaving the country and have been feeding street cats? Reduce the number of feeds over a period of time so that the cat/s will start to scavenge for food again and not just depend on you for food.
...I see a very injured street cat? Call 050-5822916. Try and wrap the cat in a towel and put it in a secure cat carrier/box and take it to the nearest vet clinic. If you do not have transport then we will try and send a rescuer out. *We are all volunteers with jobs and may not always be able to come to a rescue.
...I see some tiny kittens with no mother cat around? Do not touch the kittens, mother cats must scavenge for food and will leave their litter for a little while to do this. If mother cat does not return within 6 hours then call 050-5822916 and be ready to transport the kittens to the nearest vet.
