THANKS GILLIAN!
What can you say about someone who has given her all – that is, time, money, committment, love & support – to this programme? Between us in H&F, Gillian has been involved in our lives since late summer 2007 and she is going to be greatly missed - not just by Homing & Fostering.
OK, here’s the deal – does that sound familiar, Gillian? – what you see is what you get and woe betide anyone who crosses her when it comes to animal welfare! Just go down to the souk or the pet shops whose owners have underestimated her. She is such a whirlwind force when it comes to getting things done, it can be exhausting just listening to what she has done that day, what she plans to do the next day and the following day/week – it makes you want to go & put your feet up with a cup of tea to recover!
The current H&F Team (Yolande, Tracy, Silvia & Lorraine) have tried to come up with words that we think fit Gillian to a T – would you recognise her from these?
- Knowledgeable – through hands on experience, listening & learning at the vets’, via the internet for info, her thirst to learn more has no boundary, which has been beneficial to us on numerous occasions.
- Supportive – both within the FF community & with friends in her personal life and even with strangers she can see need help, she jumps in with both feet, the helping hand extended fully.
- Encouraging – “I knew you could do that” “Aren’t you glad you did that?” words of encouragement just when you need them.
- Tenacious – once she gets the bit between her teeth in a given situation, she will not let go until a satisfactory resolution has been reached, usually to the advantage of the cat concerned!
- Follows through – if she says she’s going to do something, she does it willingly no matter how long it takes.
- Calls a spade a spade – Gillian does not mince words, but sometimes the way she says something makes a person stop & think about what they are doing and she is never rude (unless she has to be!)
Gillian makes a big impression on all those she comes into contact with; her heart is so huge & full of love our lives are richer for knowing her & we can never thank her enough for being OUR friend as well as a Feline Friend – Good Luck, Gillian & Gordon, enjoy Belize - we’ll see you soon!
