Sharyn came to the UAE in 2006 and I met her when I delivered 2 tiny kittens to her on Christmas Day! Their mother had been run over. They were her second lot of foster kittens and needed 4 hourly bottle feeding and we did not think they would make it. But because of Sharyn's love and care they turned out to be gorgeous and were homed to a great family.
Crush, another foster cat, had been adopted but became sick and was returned to Feline Friends. He had a fatal disease, FIP and as a result, he lost his sight. Sharyn decided to take the cat on and bore the financial burden rather than have him euthanased. Over the next few months she selflessly dedicated her life to Crush. He had became blind so Sharyn nursed him, fed him, made sure he drank enough, medicated him and gave him endless love. Through her loving care and persistence he improved dramatically. He gained weight and his sight returned. Crush had 5 more months of a good quality life, due solely to Sharyn. Unfortunately there came a time when he had to be euthanased. This was devastating to Sharyn. However, after a grieving period she is again fostering Feline Friends cats.
Sharyn hails from England and has three rescue cats of her own but she still manages to foster. She says their unconditional love and warm cuddles can turn a horrible day into a really good one. She has had about twenty cats come through her home and says that she does it for the love of cats. She still has contact with all her homed foster cats and gets regular updates from the families.
The cats of Abu Dhabi and Feline Friends are lucky to have someone as wonderful as Sharyn involved in their care.
